Studio Sophiste
Martha Vicas, Allied ASID | Lauren McGrath
A personal renovation project first revealed to Martha Vicas the power of architecture and interiors to transform daily life. It set her on a path from international finance to formal training at the New York School of Interior Design. That transition was not merely a career change. It was the foundation of a design philosophy rooted in precision, craft and deep respect for how people inhabit space.
Vicas founded M.S. Vicas Interiors in 2001; today the practice operates as Studio Sophiste, a full-service residential design studio known for guiding clients through complex new builds and comprehensive renovations from first concept through final installation. The work demands fluency across disciplines: architectural coordination, construction sequencing, material sourcing and rigorous financial stewardship. “We bring the same discipline to a project budget that we bring to a design,” Vicas notes. “Our clients are making significant investments, and they deserve a partner who protects that investment at every stage.”
Creative vision and operational command are not in tension at Studio Sophiste, they are inseparable. Each project starts with a structured discovery process that identifies clients’ priorities, lifestyle needs and long-term goals, creating a comprehensive design framework that guides every decision. The result is interiors that are not only beautiful but enduring, considered in every detail, intentional in every choice and unmistakably personal.
