After earning a degree in hotel administration from Cornell University, Samantha Friedman began her career designing commercial kitchens for large-scale hospitality projects. During this time, she watched architects and interior designers shape public-facing spaces. “Their process felt creative and expressive in a way that deeply resonated with me,” she says. “I felt residential design would be the place where I could merge strong space planning with that sense of atmosphere and artistry, combining discipline with creativity.”
Friedman founded her firm in 2007, initially orchestrating single-room transformations and small-scale renovations. Over time, she began collaborating with architects and builders on full-home redesigns and new construction, increasing the size of her team to manage complex projects with detail and coordination.
A layered aesthetic with close attention to color, texture and scale makes homes feel composed rather than cluttered, says Friedman. “I design for my clients and their needs, not based on a particular style or trend,” she explains. “Most of my clients have kids and pets, and I strive to instill durability, flexibility and thoughtful storage so their spaces can handle the chaos of daily life.”
In recent years, Samantha Friedman Interior Designs has received multiple design awards and been featured in local
and national publications.
