Landscape Architecture

Rolling Acres Landscaping, Inc.

Scott Freedman, RLA, CPH, CBLP

A passion for golf led Scott Freedman to become a landscape architect. “I fell in love with golf,” he recounts. “In high school, I developed a desire to design golf courses—I wrote to the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and they recommended I study landscape architecture,” he recounts. “Twenty-five years later, I have yet to design a golf course—but I love my job!”

Freedman joined the team at Rolling Acres in 2018. The company had been around since 1981, when its founder, John Hyman, finished high school and established it as a lawn mowing business. Today, Rolling Acres focuses on residential landscape design and installation across the DMV.

Rolling Acres’ small staff handles large-scale projects ranging from custom outdoor living areas to private gardens. “We’ve stayed small so that clients know who they’re working with,” Freedman says. “They can communicate at all times with the company owner, landscape architect and project manager.”

He adds, “Our reputation is the most important thing we have and there’s a reason we’ve been around for more than 40 years.”
