Federica Donat

Born and raised in Italy, Federica Donat moved around a lot while growing up. “I think this is why as an adult, I cherish the value of home,” she shares. After embarking on a course of study in interior design while in her thirties, she launched her firm Masseria Chic in 2015.

“My extensive travels still inform my aesthetic,” Donat says. And with a grandmother who was an antiques dealer, she adds, “I have a great appreciation for handmade items and traditional ways of doing things.” She embraces a fresh, welcoming style in her projects. “I would describe my aesthetic as elevated, authentic and chic,” she observes. “Functionality, style and longevity are essential.”

Donat feels projects are most successful when clients clearly state their expectations and intentions—so she fosters a collaborative and supportive environment with clear, consistent communication. “I formulate a design plan that responds realistically to input, budget and timeline, identifying priorities and goals so we can allocate time, energy and resources,” explains the designer, who champions sustainability and the use of brands with ethical business practices.
Masseria Chic received an NKBA award for Medium Bath in 2025 and had a project published in Cottages & Bungalows in 2026.
