Lyon Architecture

Lyon Architecture founder and principal, Chris Lyon, immersed himself in design from an early age. Inspired by his mother’s interior design career, he studied home designs, re-drawing plans on graph paper and sketching in notebooks. “I wanted to understand the spaces and how the renderings became reality,” he recalls. High school drafting classes led to a degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech. Lyon honed his expertise working for prominent Washington, DC, area architectural firms and eventually launched Lyon Architecture in 2020.

Today, the Alexandria-based firm has several employees. “As a small, nimble team, we take on targeted renovations as well as whole-house construction projects, master plans and substantial additions,” Lyon explains. “The wide variety of projects provides us with new and exciting design opportunities.” Lyon and his team begin by listening intently to clients — working to deliver their vision while considering budget, timeframe and site constraints. “We provide options, hear feedback and iterate through the design process to ensure goals are met, moving from sketches to computer-drawn plans to 3D models,” Lyon notes. “Every detail is thought through and 3D modeled for proper coordination, code compliance and constructability.” He adds, “Early on, I realized that clear communication of the vision, from start to finish, is key to realizing an incredible project.”
