Alan Blalack was inspired to study landscape architecture by an early appreciation of well-designed European and American gardens. He completed his degree in 1979, then plied his trade at several landscape companies over many years. In 2012, he joined Kane Landscapes, where he has worked alongside principal and founder Josh Kane ever since.

“Forty-plus years of experience in the field of high-end residential landscape design/build has been invaluable,” Blalack says. “My early years of on-site project management helped me understand the construction process, which has made me a better designer.”

The process at Kane Landscapes is collaborative, providing clear concepts, professional recommendations and transparent pricing. “We start by listening,” Blalack says. “Every property—and every client—is unique, and we take the time to understand their goals, lifestyle, budget and long-term vision for their outdoor space. In the end, we develop a thoughtful, strategic plan tailored specifically to the client.”
