Jamie Merida, whose parents ran a gallery and furniture business, grew up around art and antiques. It was not a reach for him when, in 2000, he founded Bountiful, a home furnishings store on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Clients began asking for design help, so Merida subsequently launched Jamie Merida Interiors, creating spaces that reflect homeowners’ interests, personalities and lifestyles. “We spend a lot of time getting to know clients,” he says. “That helps us incorporate personal touches that make every design unique and special.”

A staff of 28 includes five interior designers and a CAD specialist whose renderings help clients visualize their kitchens and bathrooms before installation begins. “Our approach could be described as ‘traditional made modern,’” Merida reflects. “We have a deep appreciation for classic design but love finding ways to make it feel fresh.”

A 16,000-square-foot building houses the design studio as well as the Bountiful Home and Bountiful Flooring retail stores. The designer has his own line of furniture and home accents, Jamie Merida Collection for Chelsea House.

Merida’s work has been widely published locally and nationally. Among many accolades, he was recently named Best Interior Designer by APG Media and has repeatedly been named a Home Accents Today Retail Star.
