Founder and principal of her namesake residential firm, Colleen Healey takes pride in the seasoned, collaborative approach she embraces on every project. “I get joy out of helping my clients understand what they want out of their homes and creating something beautiful, functional and fun,” she avers.

Known for a timeless yet modern aesthetic, she and her team take their inspiration from clients and from the building site or existing home.  “I feel strongly about letting a site or an existing house inform our design,” she notes. “Our homes are one-of-a-kind, intimately tied to their site and occupants.”

Flexibility is a main component. “There is always more than one right answer—so we start with functionality and then the aesthetic options fall into place,” Healey explains. “Having children of my own, I understand how to blend high-end, modern architecture with choices that can grow with a family.” Sustainability is another important consideration; many of Healey’s projects involve rehabilitating and modernizing historic homes.

Healey designs the interiors for most projects and takes on everything from small additions to new homes in the Mid-Atlantic region. Her firm has received more than 75 local and national awards in the past few years.
