Amanda Friend, Assoc. ASID

A lifelong passion for fine art, architecture and design inspired Amanda Friend’s dynamic career path. After earning a BA in art and design from Washington College on the Eastern Shore, she was chosen to work with seminal modern artists Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. Subsequently, she became the lead designer for a luxury yacht company, then established her own interior design firm in 2003.

“My goal was to provide clients with superior design as a means to enhance the way they live,” she observes. “I find my spark in fine art and architecture. Whether it’s the modern lines of a famous building or the color theory in a gallery painting, I am constantly translating aesthetics into my designs.”

Friend strives to make the design process enjoyable and collaborative for clients as she creates rooms that are harmonious, filled with what makes them feel happy and at ease. “I am always looking for new products, materials and methods as I plan spaces that combine functionality and aesthetics,” she says. “My clients’ personal tastes are elevated through space, color, proportion, light and art.”

Friend received awards from What’s Up? Media in 2024 and 2025 and was a DC Modern Luxury Dynamic Woman of Washington Design in 2025.
