For 25 years, Aidan Design has built a portfolio defined by thoughtful design and grounded in partnerships. The team collaborates closely with homeowners, builders and craftspeople from start to finish, sharing ideas, solving challenges and celebrating the details that make a home feel just right.

Aidan Design was founded by principal and senior designer Nadia N. Subaran and her late husband John A. Schmiedigen. Their shared vision shaped the early years of the studio and continues to influence its work today—the firm’s established values, led by creativity, craftsmanship and a deep appreciation of home, remain at the heart of every project.

Subaran studied architecture at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. That training informs the way she reads proportion, structure and flow within a home, approaching every detail with care and purpose. Drawing on each team member’s background, Aidan Design blends technical precision with a strong reputation for space planning.

Aidan Design’s work goes beyond kitchen and bath design. The firm tackles interior architecture in residential spaces including basement transformations and primary suites. “Our projects focus on detail, proportion and comfort,” Subaran explains. “We bring form and function into balance.”
